KanBananza for Mac and Windows

Your boards in their own window, with reminders that arrive on time, quick add from anywhere and Pip, your AI helper.

Mac: macOS 11 Big Sur or later, on Apple silicon or Intel. Windows: Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit.

The app has the same boards as the browser extension, and the same plans: it’s free to use, and Full Bananza and Pip unlock with the same licence key.

Opening it the first time

KanBananza isn’t signed by Apple or Microsoft yet, so your computer shows a warning the first time you open it. You only need to do this once.

On a Mac

  1. Open the file you downloaded, and drag KanBananza into Applications.
  2. Open KanBananza from Applications. If macOS says it can’t check KanBananza, choose Done.
  3. Open System Settings, then Privacy & Security. Scroll down and choose Open Anyway beside KanBananza. Enter your password if asked, and choose Open Anyway again.

On macOS 14 Sonoma or earlier, you can instead right-click KanBananza in Applications, choose Open, then Open again.

If macOS says KanBananza is damaged

It isn’t: that’s how macOS describes some apps from the internet that aren’t signed. Open Terminal (in Applications, then Utilities), paste this line, press Return, and open KanBananza again:

xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/KanBananza.app

On Windows

  1. Open the file you downloaded (KanBananza-windows-setup.exe).
  2. If Windows says Windows protected your PC, choose More info, then Run anyway.
  3. KanBananza installs just for you, so it doesn’t need an administrator password, and then opens.

What the app adds

  • Reminders on time: card reminders and the focus timer show as your computer’s notifications, even with the window closed.
  • Quick add from anywhere: choose a shortcut in Settings → App, then add a card from any app without switching.
  • Always there: it keeps running in the Dock on a Mac, or the system tray on Windows, and can open when you log in.
  • Updates itself: when there’s a new version, it offers to install it, and your boards stay as they are.

With the extension

  • Use both: the extension keeps your boards on every new tab and saves web pages from the right-click menu, which the app can’t do. The app gives your boards their own window.
  • The same boards in both: turn on Google Drive sync (Full Bananza) in each one, in Settings → Your data.
  • Your licence key: activate it in the app too, in Settings → Full Bananza. Each copy of KanBananza you activate uses one of your key’s activations, and you can free one with Deactivate.

Your boards and privacy

The app keeps your boards in its own folder on your computer, with no account and no analytics. Pip, sync, licence checks and updates use the internet only as the privacy policy describes.
